چکیده
Owing to its variable topographic features, Ethiopia is endowed with rich biological resources. However, nowadays, these vital resources, mainly forests, are declining alarmingly, largely, due agricultural expansion and energy consumption. This study was conducted at Gosh-Beret forest the objective of investigating status species. Fifty-one main plots, spaced a 100 m interval, were laid on north-south oriented transects. Within five subplots, each corner center, set collect data for juveniles. In plot, individuals woody species identified recorded. Percent cover abundance per plot genuinely estimated, which later converted into modified Braun–Blanquet scale. For mature species, diameters breast height (DBH ≥ 2 cm) measured. Hierarchical cluster analysis performed identify community types. The Shannon–Wiener diversity index Sorensen’s similarity coefficient used compare composition among communities, respectively. structure regeneration analyzed using structural parameters size-class ratios, A total 52 distributed in 35 families Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Asteraceae most dominant 4 each. overall 2.6, types generated from analysis. forest, frequency density decrease increasing classes. Likewise, class decreases as DBH classes increase. basal area 19.81 m2ha−1, fair having small IVI values few/no seedlings. Therefore, immediate conservation measures required save

Floristic Composition and Structure of the Dry Afromontane Forest at Bale Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
The floristic composition and structure of the Dry Afromontane Forest at Bale Mountains National Park was studied from July 2003 to June 2004. A total of 90 plots were established at three sites (Adelle, Boditi and Gaysay) at an altitudinal range of 3010–3410 m. The cover abundance values, density, and diameter at breast height and list of species were recorded in each plot. About 230 species b...

متن کاملIndigenous Woody Species Regeneration under the Canopies of Exotic Tree Plantations at Tore Forest, Gelana District, Southern Oromia, Ethiopia
Ethiopia has one of the longest forest plantation histories in Africa. Forest plantations in Ethiopia are mainly monocultures of exotic species, such as Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Cupressus lusitanica, Casuarina cunninghamiana, Pinus patula, Pinus radiata, and the native species Juniperus procera. Accordingly, in the end of the 19th century Eucalyptus species were introduced...

Rapid exploratory field survey, to identify indigenous chicken ecotypes was conducted in north Gondar zone of Ethiopia. Chicken ecotypes including Necked neck, Gasgie and Gugut from Quara, Alefa and Tache Armacheho districts were identified, respectively. Morphological variations among the three study populations and nine measurable traits were evaluated. General linear model, canonical discrim...
متن کاملEffects of Topographic and Soil Factors on Woody Species Assembly in a Chinese Subtropical Evergreen Broadleaved Forest
Evergreen broadleaved forests in subtropical China contain a complicated structure of diverse species. The impact of topographic and soil factors on the assembly of woody species in the forest has been poorly understood. We used Ripley’s K(t) function to analyze the spatial patterns and associations of dominant species and residual analysis (RDA) to quantify the contribution of topography and s...
